Who We Are

Celtic Trails was founded in 1997 by Angus Cunningham and his wife Judy as a husband and wife operation in North Wales. What began as a small family business has grown into one of the UK's longest-established self-guided walking holiday companies — still family owned and run, but now supported by a longstanding, passionate team with decades of first-hand knowledge across over 70 routes in the British Isles and Europe.

What We Do Differently

You'll speak to the same small team, not a different person every time.
Every enquiry is handled by a walk specialist with direct knowledge of the route you're interested in. The people who help you plan your holiday are the same people who answers the phone if something comes up on the trail.

We've been doing this long enough to know what goes wrong, and how to prevent it.
With over 28 years of experience, we've walked most of these routes ourselves, worked with our accommodation providers for years, and refined our itineraries based on real walker feedback. 98.8% of our clients say they would recommend us, based on our own post-walk surveys.

All the details taken care of. You just walk.
We handle the logistics, accommodation, luggage transfers, route documentation, emergency support — so that by the time you set off, everything is already taken care of. If something does go wrong on your holiday, we're reachable around the clock.

Your booking is financially protected.
We are fully bonded through ABTOT (member 5554) and members of the Adventure Travel Trade Association. Your money is secure from the moment you book.

Our Routes

We offer over 70 self-guided walking holiday locations across the British Isles and Europe, from well-known long-distance trails like the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, West Highland Way and Hadrian’s Wall Path to quieter routes that reward those who want to stay off the beaten path. Every route in our programme has been carefully selected and refined by our team, we don't offer a route we wouldn't want to walk ourselves.

Planning Your Walk

If you have a route in mind, or you're not sure where to start, we're happy to help. Many of our enquiries begin with a conversation, tell us roughly what you're looking for, and we'll give you an honest recommendation.
