We don’t promise the earth, we do promise the best walking holiday experiences in the UK
Inspirational scenery, character accommodation, welcoming hosts, local food are all ingredients of a Celtic Trails Walking Holiday; but what really sets us apart is our personal customer service.
Ever since we were first established in the midst of the Snowdonia National Park over 20 years ago, this has been central to our ethos. We want you to enjoy your holiday and your destination to the full, and so when you make an enquiry with us you will be speaking to real people interested in your holiday, who can handle each booking individually, thus helping you to choose a walking holiday and an itinerary that is just right for you. We know the trails intimately and use the very best accommodation, of its type, available in each of the areas you will walk through. Rest assured that from the moment you make your first enquiry, to the moment you go home, you will be looked after by our well-informed team and hosts who are dedicated to ensuring you have an excellent holiday.
Inspiring a love of walking, year on year
Our business has been built on a love of the countryside, a passion for walking and a dedication to ensuring you, our clients, have the best experience possible. For this reason, nothing makes us happier than seeing our walkers return year after year to discover new places on foot. Since we began, over 70% of our customers have come back to complete another walking holiday with us, with regular faces reaching their 6th, 10th and even 12th walk. The reason for this is quite simple, our clients know that when they book with us, they are assured a holiday where every need has already been thought of, every detail is as they would wish and every expectation is exceeded. But why hear it from us when you can hear it from the walkers themselves. Find out more about why our clients love walking with Celtic Trails.
Experience you can trust
Celtic Trails is not only one of the longest established walking holiday providers in the UK but also one of the most knowledgeable. The story began back in the mid-1990s, when Angus Cunningham, a native of Scotland living in North Wales began to share his hiking expertise and love of the Snowdonia mountains with visitors. From there, a quite unique idea was born – to provide a walking holiday that balanced the perfect tranquility of being self-guided with the ease of having everything organised for you. Over the next few years, Angus used his extensive knowledge of walking in Wales, in Scotland and in Europe to create a portfolio of walks that covered Britain’s most breathtaking scenery whilst also meeting the individual needs of each walker. Twenty years later, our walks and walkers have grown, but Celtic Trails remains the same, experts in walking dedicated to providing the very best walking holidays.
Great B&B assignments-really wonderful places to stay for our Wye Valley walk; the trails go through varied and beautiful countryside with a guidebook that provided great descriptions and trail guidance. Priced at affordable rates, we give Celtic Trails two thumbs up!
Celtic Trails did a fantastic job arranging all the logistics for our walk on the Llyn Coastal Trail. The B&Bs were especially wonderful. The owners were all so friendly and welcoming.
We walked the Speyside Way in September. My wife and I had never visited Scotland before. And we are now in love.
The walk was wonderful. We loved every moment - even the tough ones. Speyside is not a hard walk, but every walk has it's challenges regardless of difficulty.
Celtic Trails did a wonderful job of organising the details. Every place we stayed was delightful. Our host, at the very outset, sent us off with a Stirrup Cup to keep us warm in the drizzle. And it worked: Our spirits were high throughout!
Each B&B was comfortable and welcoming. Our bags safely moved from one to the next.
The flexibility of the trip provided one of the high points. When we realized midway, that we faced a 13 mile walk in heavy rain, and that we weren't on a religious pilgrimage, we were able to easily change our plans, and visit a nearby sheep farm instead. The shepherd and his wife were warm and welcoming, and (thanks to the shepherd) we were at the next B&B by late afternoon - as if we hadn't skipped the day at all.
Celtic Trails did a wonderful job of organising. Through their knowledge and skill, turn a memorable walk into a treasure.
We will have Celtic Trails plan our next walk!
Just back from walking the whole coast of the Isle of Man! AWESOME walk, breath taking scenery and diverse terrain.Even included 4 superb sea swims! Loved every minute. This is 2nd tour with CT- we did Offas Dyke a couple of years ago.
Clare Balding was on the Island #r4ramblings - popped in to the pub - but had to push off to the chippy as it was full! Saw with my own eyes! Only on the IoM!
The B&B accommodation was all top notch - sea views at 4 of them! Special mention to Dot and Stuart - Port St Mary-who are absolute legends!
A perfect organised walking holiday is possible : try Celtic Trails Walking Holidays !
We (my wife and me) walked the Beacons Way : challenging, but absolutely worth it.
An amazing landscape with wide views, flawless transport of luggage and hikers to the next B&B, complete info-package, spotless communication with organizor.
5-star-rating is evident.
We are just working on our 2018 hike with Celtic Trails----in the planning stages now, to book in September or October. We've hiked with Celtic Trails seven times----Hadrian's Wall, Offa's Dyke, The Ridgeway, both halves of the Wye Valley Walk, The Cotswold Way and The Dingle Way in Ireland. Each time the Celtic Trails staff has compleletly exceeded our high expectations. They've just been great in every respect.
We've been able to customize our itineraries, we've been looked after very well in every way. We've hiked when there have just been 2 of us, several times with 4 of us, once with 3 in the group, and once with 7 in the group. We've never booked the premium package for a hike, but each time our accommodations have been very good, if not spectacular.
We've found the cost of the hikes to be very reasonable, if not actually surprisingly inexpensive. Each has been great value for the cost.
We are planning to do most of the hikes in the UK that are on the website in the next 20 years or so. We can't say enough great things about Celtic Trails.

Thanks Celtic Trails for organising the most unforgettable trip - Offa's Dyke from Hay to Prestatyn. Awesome walking, great accommodation choices, seamless pickups and somehow you got us superb weather too!!! We will definitely be using your services again. Brilliant.
Once again, Celtic Trails has given us one of our most wonderfully memorable travel experiences ever.
My sister and my father and I just returned from walking Hadrian's Wall. We worked with Celtic Trails to put together our excursion because our experience with them in 2013, when we walked the Dales Way, was entirely positive -- as was this year's adventure. The staff is prompt, friendly, professional, and thorough. The walk-pack, map, and guide book were detailed and unfailingly helpful. We were especially glad for essential asides such as the list of local cab companies and water stops.
We are already dreaming of our next walking trip, and we know that Celtic Trails will help us organize a splendid journey. Many thanks!
We had a great experience with Celtic Trails. It was our first experience found a self guided hike but we definitely will book again. First rate service from beginning to end: pre planning help, guide books, accommodations, and luggage transfers. We would not hesitate to recommend them.
My husband and I, along with another couple, have used Celtic Trails for walks on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and the Dales Way and we have been delighted with both. We so appreciated their patience with our many questions and itinerary changes during the planning process, including help with restaurant reservations and UK transportation before and after our walks. Celtic Trails made creative suggestions for interesting detours and was unfailingly reliable with all arrangements. We looked forward each evening to discovering our new home for the night.
We will be walking along the South Coast Path with Celtic Trails this fall and we anticipate planning excursions with them for many years to come.
Recently returned from the Dales Way, our fourth walking holiday organised by Celtic Trails. Everything ran very smoothly, from the pre holiday information, through the accommodation, baggage movement and transport. This has been the case on all our trips. Highly recommended!
My wife and I have used Celtic Trailsl on nine occasions over the last six years, and have always found their service efficient, courteous and good value for money. The guide instructions have always been clear, and the additional material supplied with the walk pack has often proved helpful. All the accommodation booked has been excellent and in most cases, particularly the bed and breakfast private houses (opposed to the occasional hotel) the quality and friendly reception was outstanding. Their personal concern to recommend walks suitable for our diminishing ability (due to age) has been greatly appreciated and I have no hesitation in given them five stars, and look forward to booking our next holiday with them
Just booked Hadrian's Wall walking tour, simple system to use, great support from staff when we phoned with a query from New Zealand. Thank you.
I booked the Dingle Way walk with Celtic Trails, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of my life. My holiday included lovely B&B stays and support throughout my vacation, as needed. It was so wonderful that I am using them again to book my Isle of Arran and West Highland Way (Scotland) walks this summer. Thank you for your expertise, organization, and excellent communication!
We did the Hadrian's Wall hike during the last week of September. Celtic Trails did a great job. They seem to think of everything. In areas where there was no place near our B&B for dinner they arranged in advance for our transportation and assured we would have a dinner reservation just in case that was needed. The B&Bs were very nice to outstanding. Thanks for helping us have a very memorable trip. I hope to use your services again soon!!!
My wife and I have just completed The Dingle Way, our third walk with Celtic Trails who have become our firm favourite for long distance walks in the British Isles.
Their preparation and administration is flawless, and communication warm and responsive. The walk packs we have received have drawn envious looks from walkers using other companies, and have always provided everything we need.
Their choice of accommodation has provided us with many memorable stays and pleasurable social encounters.
As for the walks themselves, Nature has to take the credit, but we're grateful to Celtic Trails for making them so accessible.
Brilliantly organised. The walking pack provided every conceivable piece of information that could have been necessary. All interactions with the Celtic Trails office staff have been friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.
