After breakfast, a short transfer will take you to Gruz port, for an under one-hour boat ride to the tranquil Lopud Island. Today, Lopud is a serene destination featuring pristine beaches and a car-free, peaceful atmosphere with fewer than 300 residents. However, its history tells a different story. In the 17th century, it was a bustling port with a population of 14,000, mainly involved in seafaring. From the 18th to the early 20th centuries, it changed hands between the French, English, and Austrians due to its strategic location. Lopud still bears remnants of its maritime heritage, such as fortress and palace ruins, centuries-old churches, and a restored Franciscan monastery. Enjoy a day exploring the island and its beaches before returning to Dubrovnik in the afternoon.Walking: 6 miles / 9.5kmIf you prefer, a walk on Šipan Island can be arranged:We have arranged a transfer in the morning to the port of Dubrovnik, where a boat will take you to the island of Šipan, the largest of the Elafiti islands. During the 15th century, many aristocratic Dubrovnik families built these summer manors on Sipan, and between them, the summer manor of the Sorkocevic family stands out in Šipanska Luka as one of the most distinctive. In Šipanska Luka you will have opportunity to taste some of the local cuisine and take advantage of the beautiful stretch of coastline nearby.
