After breakfast we will transfer you to the village of Rodmell in the lower valley of the Ouse. You will start the day with a steep ascent up to the downs, reaching the Firle Beacon for immediate great views which will accompany you throughout. It’s a day of breezy, high-level walking, eventually dropping back down into picturesque Alfriston. You have time to explore this historic village with its mix of quirky, independent shops and great places to eat.

Walking towards the sea always makes for a rewarding day. This morning, you will head out direct from your accommodation and follow the valley of the river Cuckmere on to the Seven Sister hills and Birling Gap. The downs are rich in wildlife; supporting 11 different orchids, 39 species of butterfly, weasels, stoats, deer and the elusive nightjar, which flies here from South Africa. Wander down to the shoreline and look back at the view of the stunning white cliffs above. At the end of the day our driver will return you to your accommodation.
